In-Person Youth Workshops: Get hands-on with forensic science activities and prepare for your future with our career and college preparation workshops taught by real forensic science professionals. Our workshops offer an immersive and educational experience for young people interested in pursuing a career in forensic science. With interactive activities, expert guidance, and an opportunity to network with professionals in the field, this is an excellent opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the science behind forensics and how it can lead to exciting career opportunities. Our youth forensics and drug/violence program that will educate boys and girls in grades 5th through 12th about career opportunities in forensic science through hands-on forensic activities and discussions with forensic professionals.  Because forensics also plays a vital role in criminal investigations, students will also learn about drugs and violence.

Forensic science is a multidisciplinary subject that incorporates core science disciplines such as Biology, Chemistry,  Social Science, and more.  Students will improve their transferable skills such as problem-solving, communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and observational skills.

Workshops are designed to meet the following learning outcomes:

  • Hands-on forensic science activities
  • College preparation and enrichment program resources
  • forensic science & STEM career/educational information
  • Mentoring by forensic professionals
  • Guest speakers from forensic science specialty areas
  • Science-based workshops designed to develop student’s awareness of forensic science, applications, and techniques used by forensic science experts.
  • Introduce and develop the skills, understanding, and knowledge of scientific processes and the importance of forensic experts in the criminal justice system.
  • Enhance student skills to problem solve, organize, and pay attention to detail by distinguishing between relevant and irrelevant information.
  • Learn how physical, social and life science play a role in criminal investigations.
  • Apply critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Awareness of various careers in forensic science and education requirements.

Interested in an after-school forensic science program for your school/organization? Club Philly Forensics is a mobile program, so if you’re unable to bring the students to us, we’ll bring the club to you!

Request a workshop at least 30 days in advance of the desired workshop date. AWIFS will provide forensic science professionals and activities at your site to engage your students in various forensic disciplines and techniques used in forensic science.

  • Workshops are for boys and girls ages 12-18

*Pre-registration is required for all workshops. This is a prepaid non-refundable workshop. Payment is due in full at registration. Permission slips are required per student and must be completed and returned prior to participating in all workshops.
